Ute driver turns himself in after crash

A driver who ploughed a ute into the front of a house in Sydney's west and then ran away has turned himself in, police say.

The Holden Commodore utility crashed through the fence and into the front half of the house on Dryden Avenue in Oakhurst at 6.30pm on Saturday.

A family, including two children, were in the lounge room at the time and were "lucky to escape unhurt", Inspector Michael Bailey from the Quakers Hill Command said.

The male driver and a 17-year-old female passenger ran from the scene of the crash, however police have since identified and interviewed the teenage passenger.

A young male driver turned himself into Mount Druitt police on Sunday afternoon and is assisting with investigations.
