Man injured in Vic police chase crash

A man is fighting for his life after crashing his motorcycle while trying to evade police in northern Victoria.

Police had tried to pull over the rider in the Bendigo suburb of Golden Square because there were no registration plates on the motorcycle, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

Police ended the chase seconds after the rider mounted a footpath to evade them, the spokeswoman said.

He was struck by a 4WD reversing from a driveway.

The rider, a man, was taken to Bendigo Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a woman, and two children inside the four-wheel drive were not hurt.

Major collisions detectives are investigating, overseen by members of the police professional standards command.
