Man charged over hit-and-run death

A man has been charged over the alleged hit-and-run killing of a cyclist in southern Queensland.

The 43-year-old, of Kingsthorpe, was charged on Thursday with several offences, including dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death over the killing of Martin Pearson.

Mr Pearson, 61, was run down on Anzac Day afternoon at Inglewood, in the Darling Downs.

"The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the incident or obtain medical assistance for the cyclist," police allege.

The accused is due before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday.
