Robbers after dough

Two robbers were after dough not bread as they headed straight for the cash register at the Springfield Lakes Bakery at around half past four this morning.

The owner, and three employees were baking, out back they had no idea two robbers were about to storm in.

They threatened staff with crow bars forcing them to flee out a rear door.

One wore a hoodie, the other covered his head with a pillow case.

Local business owner, Nathalie Lebrun said,'We come every morning, we've never seen anything like that here.'

When they couldn't open the till the bandits ripped the cash register from the wall and fled with the unopened machine, containing money.

Local traders have installed security cameras but they're still worried.

Nathalie Lebrun said,'We don't have cash on premises but all the little local businesses.. what else can we do?'

The victims were left shaken, but fortunately they weren't harmed. Police are now searching for the cash register which may have been dumped nearby.

The offenders did leave a paper trail as a roll unravelled from the register they pinched..

It stopped too short to be of any help to Yamanto detectives who are now hunting the thieves.
