Three injured in highway crash

Three people have been injured, one critically, after a horror head-on crash on the Princes Highway in Victoria's south-east.

The accident, involving a white Mazda van and a blue Nissan Pathfinder, happened on the Princes Highway at Flynns Creek, shortly before 9.30am.

Emergency crews had to work to free three passengers from the wreckage of the two vehicles.

A 26-year-old Sydenham man, who was a passenger in the van, and a 65-year-old Sale woman, who was driving the Nissan, were airlifted to The Alfred Hospital after being trapped for more than an hour.

According to reports, both suffered leg, pelvic and spinal injuries. The young man was critically injured.

The van driver, a 21-year-old Sunbury man, suffered minor injuries and was taken by road ambulance to the Latrobe Regional Hospital.

Road blocks are expected to remain in place between Rosedale and Flynn for approximately four hours.
