An abandoned house has been lost in a grass fire as five blazes continue to burn across Queensland.
Ten fire crews responded to a grass fire at Habana, north of Mackay, about 1.15pm (AEST) on Tuesday, which destroyed an abandoned house.
But flames were brought under control with firefighters conducting backburning activities by Tuesday evening and no more structures were under threat.At Pleystowe, west of Mackay, firefighters were forced to protect homes from a grass fire that began at 2.45pm (AEST).
It was brought under control after two hours and is being monitored into the night.Three more fires burning in the southeast corner at Pilton, Hatton Vale and Minden are under control.
Fire bans remain in place for high-risk areas of the state.
