ACT Health Minister Katy Gallagher says she fears Canberrans are becoming complacent about swine flu.

So far only 11,500 Canberrans have been vaccinated against the H1N1 virus.

Ms Gallagher received a vaccination today in a bid to set an example for the community.

She says it is still important that people are vaccinations, even though the worst of the flu season is over.

"Because it's a new vaccine perhaps people have concerns about it," she said.

"But nationally there's only been 15 reports of adverse events and they've all been very mild.

"It's been tested and it's really important we have it."

Ms Gallagher says the vaccine is free to all Australians.
