A 63-year-old Texas woman has been named the luckiest lottery player ever, after winning four times, and amassing over $US20 million.
Proving the old adage wrong, lightning does seem to strike in the same place twice, at least in Joan Ginther's world.
Ginther's exceptional run of luck began in 1993 when she won $US5.4 million, according to reports.
She went on to win a further $US2 million from a $US30 scratchie ticket in 2006.
Ginther scored another $US3 million in 2008, again from a scratchie ticket, reportedly bought from a local Texas store that only sells approximately 1000 tickets daily.
She pocketed $US10 million with her most recent win.
The lucky lotto winner has refused publicity surrounding her multiple good fortune. The amount of money she spent on lottery tickets remains unknown.
The most recent lottery haul in Australia saw three people netting $17 million each when their numbers came up in Oz Lotto's $50 million draw.
The top winners purchased their tickets in South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria.First look at The Great Gatsby The Hype
