Photoshop pic of Demi sparks ridicule

W magazine in the United States has been heavily criticised, after a Demi Moore cover shot showed the actress missing a part of her hip.

Readers know by now that magazines extensively airbrush the stars on their covers, and often the celebs appreciate a little touchup.

But Demi Moore's alteration appears to cut out a chunk of her side.

Yahoo!US reports that as magazine covers go through an exhaustive process of approvals, it is puzzling that this one made it to press with such an obvious mistake.

The editors at Boing Boing have given the magazine a roasting for the cover, laying the blame on the technicians, not fashionistas wanting skinnier celebrities.

"I feel about this the same way I did about the Ralph Lauren model," the site says.

"I don't buy (in the high fashion context, anyway) that there's necessarily too much "Photoshopping", or too much of a drive toward uber-skinny... but simply that it's bad art."

The issue has been criticised by bloggers and websites, with sympathy directed towards the photographer and Demi Moore herself.

In the issue of the magazine, Demi Moore claimed she doesn't understand why she is a poster girl for age difference relationships.
