Black Keys to rock Red Hill

It's lucky eights for the Black Keys, with the Grammy Award-winning American rock duo due to make their eighth visit to Australia next year to tour eighth album, Turn Blue.

The Nashville-based blues and garage rock band, whose latest album topped charts here and in the US, will play Red Hill Auditorium on April 14.

The seven-date tour kicks off with a headlining performance at the Byron Bay Bluesfest on April 3.

The guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney formed the band in their native Akron, Ohio in 2001. The Black Keys first toured Australia two years later.

Recorded by the pair alongside acclaimed producer Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton, Turn Blue features the hit Fever and latest single Gotta Get Away.

The album followed the critically acclaimed and commercially successful El Camino, which last year won three Grammy Awards in the rock category, including best rock performance and best rock song for Lonely Boy.

The Black Keys won their first Grammy in 2011 for the single Tighten Up, from the breakthrough album, Brothers.

Previously a stripped back two-piece, Auerbach and Carney have expanded their live shows to include extra musicians to capture the more elaborate sounds on their recent studio albums.

Tickets to the Black Keys at Red Hill go on sale from September 11 from Oztix outlets.
