Teenage girl sexually assaulted

A 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man who offered to buy her cigarettes and alcohol.

The victim told police she was at the Bayswater train station when she struck up a conversation with two men on Sunday, June 26 at about 8.30pm.

One of the men offered the young girl a cigarette and to buy her alcohol before they walked off together down the Mountain Highway towards a bottle shop.

They continued on together to the rear of a sports centre in Valentine Street where the young girl was alledgely asexually assaulted.

The victim then left the scene to walk through Bayswater Park along a bike track that runs parallel with Dandenong Creek.

She was north of the Bayswater Oval when she was pushed to the ground by the same man, who attempted to sexually assault her for a second time.

The victim managed to fight off the culprit and ruin back to the Bayswater train station where she called he mum to come and pick her up.

Investigator have released images of a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as having a solid build, Maori in appearance and spoke with a heavy New Zealand accent.

He was wearing a beanie, shorts and a bag slung over his shoulder.
