Police smash car window to rescue 'frozen' elderly woman
Police officers were called to rescue an elderly woman believed to be "frozen to death" inside a parked car in New York State.
A sergeant busted a rear window and opened the door to rescue the woman sitting in a car's passenger seat wearing an oxygen mask on Friday morning in the city of Hudson.
The woman turned out to be an extremely realistic mannequin.
Police photos show the very detailed human-like doll with hair, real clothing and shoes and even skin blemishes. It was even wearing a seat belt.
The car owner arrived and said he uses the dummy for his job selling medical training aids.
Hudson Police Chief Edward Moore said the owner was "incredulous" that police broke the window to rescue the mannequin.
"If you park your locked vehicle on the street on a sub-zero night with a life size realistic mannequin seated in it... we will break your window," he said.
No charges were filed.
