Inside Brisbane's worst restaurants, 36 kitchens shut down

Mouldy mince meat and insects nestled in noodles were found inside of 36 restaurants reportedly shut down by Brisbane food inspectors.

Disgusting images showed coatings of grease and dirt caked onto floors and kitchen walls, as well as bugs pictured resting among white noodles.

The images were revealed during a meeting for the council’s Lifestyle and Community Services Committee this week.

The Brisbane City Council conducted 1092 inspections across 6,300 businesses in 2015 and 2016 in response to complaints, The Courier Mail reported.

It is believed the business were temporarily suspending licenses for three dozen restaurants who were not up to code and issuing 400 fines.

The council reportedly issued 407 fines to businesses, hunted down 29 successful prosecutions of Food Act 2006 breaches, which all in all totalled to $594,600 in fines.

A bakery in the city's north received a $15,000 fine for cleanliness, a Chinese restaurant was fined $24,000 for violating cleanliness and pest control.

Another bakery was believed to have been fined $14,000 for dirty dishes placed in storage.

But, a Vietnamese restaurant was slapped with one of the heftiest fines, $20,000, because they did not properly store and process food, they failed cleanliness codes and for animals and pests.
