WA bikies ambushed in Melbourne, man dragged himself one kilometre for help

Four members of a WA bikie gang are lucky to be alive after gunmen opened fire, ambushing the group as they sat in a car in Melbourne.

Footage of the shocking attack has surfaced as police search for those responsible for putting two of the Comanchero gang in a serious condition in hospital.

One of the injured men managed to drag himself more than a kilometre to the Westmeadows Tavern, with a trail of blood leading right up to the side door where the man sought help.

A second WA bikie was also shot in the chest in the targeted attack. That man was trapped in the white Mercedes when the gunmen made it to the rear of the vehicle while another hid in nearby bushes.

He fled while bleeding heavily to the closest property.

“He got to the stairs and I said ‘come any closer and I’ll hit you’,” resident Dean Clarke said.

“Then he said ‘No I’ve been shot’, and he opened his coat and there was all blood everywhere.”

Another resident was able to help stem the bleeding.

“He seemed to be in a lot of pain. I just looked after him, my first aid seemed to kick in,” nearby resident Sheryl said.

Both men are refusing to cooperate with police from Royal Melbourne Hospital but officers believe the men knew their attackers.

Up to a dozen shots were fired, with one bullet lodging in a parked car nearby.

Police are now investigating whether the ambush was the result of an internal conflict within the Comanchero ranks, or if it’s because of bad blood with rival gangs.
