Sydney man creates ultimate 54,000-calorie junk food birthday cake

A Sydney man has created his own birthday cake, made entirely from KFC, McDonalds and Dominos takeaway.

Chef Milton Lai said he felt like celebrating with a chicken cake instead of the traditional kind and set himself a challenge to build the 54,000 calorie masterpiece.

The entire 'cake' cost $120 and includes: six double cheeseburgers, four large fries, 50 McNuggets, three large pizzas, a KFC family feast, 15 pieces of chicken and two large servings of potato and gravy.

The base of Mr Lai's cake is a deep dish pizza from Dominos, with chicken nuggets spread around the perimetre.

McDonalds fries were then added into the centre of the 'cake' before a second thin crust pizza is layered on top.

Six double cheeseburgers, another pizza and KFC chicken pieces are then added on top, with potato and gravy used to "mash up the middle".

Mr Lai said he was inspired to make the cake after seeing an "ill-conceived image of a KFC cake".

"Overall, it was a success in my eyes and everyone else's eyes (and stomaches)," Mr Lai said in his blog post on mlai.org

He even challenged cake lovers to better his creation.

"I'd like to leave this out there for inspiration for others to top, with improved heights and grander designs."
