New Zealand bike rider's incredible luck after high-speed crash in front of van
A video has emerged of a New Zealand bike rider’s incredibly lucky escape after he was thrown at high-speed from his bike into the path of a van and trailer.
The rider came within inches of the vehicle as he slid across its path, crashing into a kerb at the other side of the road.
The footage was uploaded to Youtube on Tuesday by user Dr1fto, who said the incident was believed to have happened three days prior to his post.
The motorcyclist the speeds towards a junction, reportedly at Hardy Street in Invercargill, and unsuccessfully attempts to stop.
The bike slides to the side and the driver is hurled across the road, he narrowly misses the van but his bike clips the back of the trailer.
The van is then sent zig-zagging across the road, narrowly missing an oncoming car before the driver regains control and straightens.
The motorcyclist, who was luckily wearing a helmet, could be seen gathering himself up from the driveway into which he had plunged and rubbing his elbow has he moved to retrieve his bike.
Dr1fto commented that, while the van driver was fine, the motorcyclist had done a runner.
