Dramatic two-car collision caught on camera as driver skips red light

A dramatic two-car collision has been captured on a dashcam outside a Queensland shopping centre after one driver ran a red light.

The incident happened outside Morayfield Shopping Centre on Tuesday morning.

It shows a silver car coming straight through a junction despite a red light, just as cars begin to move from another lane.

The car cuts across their path, missing one being bashed in the side by a black car, which sends it spinning.

The silver car smashes into a pole as the black car comes to a stop.

Other drivers can be seen running to the vehicles to check the injured parties.

The video was posted to Facebook by Dash Cam Owners Australia on Wednesday and was viewed almost 200,000 times in the course of 24 hours.

Many of those commenting called on the government to introduce cameras at red lights.

“[I]t would probably stop less of the stupidity happening at the major intersections, that are frequent hotspots,” Chris Farno commented.

From red light runners to police chases, dashcameras are increasingly capturing shocking incidents on roads across the world.
