Police siege of unit block in Maroubra ends with two arrests

A police siege in Maroubra in Sydney's east has ended with one man taken into custody.

A man wearing only underwear and a hoodie was handcuffed and removed from the unit police had lid siege to for nearly five hours.

There are reports another man in the unit was also arrested.

Police shut down roads around Portland Crescent and residents were advised to avoid the area as several officers from eastern divisions swarmed on the area.


There are unconfirmed reports there were two men in a unit on Portland Crescent. It is not clear whether hostages were involved.

NSW Police Media would not confirm earlier if police negotiators were attending the scene.

Yahoo7 understands one of the men is known to police and was armed with a pistol.
