China names and shames tourists behaving badly

China has added five more names to its public ‘blacklist’ – an online registry that names and shames Chinese tourists who misbehave overseas.

The China National Tourism Administration started the list in January in a bid to curb bad behaviour and protect the reputation of the country.

The names of two men and a woman were added to the list after a fight broke out on a flight from Cambodia to the Chinese city of Chengdu.

The website says the disagreement began when one passenger reclined their chair too far back.

Pushing and insults followed, and the captain finally refused to continue the flight until security personnel had ‘forcibly removed’ the guests.

Another bizarre addition to the list involves a husband who punched a convenience store clerk in the face after the clerk asked his wife to stop opening and eating food items that she hadn’t paid for.

Last December, a flight bound for Nanjing had to turn back to Bangkok after an enraged passenger threw a cup of hot water on a flight attendant.

The ‘name and shame’ document currently lists 16 names in total.

In October 2014, China Central Television ran an advertisement featuring a naughty panda engaging in mischievous acts overseas.

The ad is set in Sydney and shows the panda urinating and scrawling graffiti on objects near the Opera House.

Chinese travellers aren't the only ones behaving badly. Here are a few more examples of troublesome tourists:
