Historic Queensland pub burns to ground

The historic Kandanga Pub in Queensland has burnt to the ground following a fire that is believed to have broken out in the kitchen earlier this morning.

The close-knit Kandanga community will awake this morning to the shocking news of the beloved 100-year-old pub being destroyed during the blaze.

Fire fighters are still on the scene putting out the fire.

Early reports suggest nobody has been injured in the blaze and the only people who were in the pub when the fire broke out managed to escape unharmed.

It is not known whether the historic timber hotel is insured.

The pub is located in the main street of the picturesque Mary Valley township near Gympie.
