Mobile phone video of the fight was posted online by shocked bystander Simon Nicholson, and shows the women, one of who is allegedly five months pregnant, pushing and shoving each other in the middle of the carriage.

From the footage, it appears the argument begins when a woman in a black jacket pulls the pregnant mother, who is wearing a white shirt, onto the train.

The women in black then floors her rival with a swift punch to her neck and continues to kick her as she attempts to get back up.

"Apparently the pregnant lady had said something bad about the other lady's son on Facebook," Ms Nicholson told the Herald Sun.

"One of the girls got punched in the eye pretty bad, her eye was all swollen."

The brawl continues to rage on with the woman in black continuing to kick her rival while yelling out: “You’re a low life skunk”.

When the woman in white eventually manages to stand up, the woman in black grabs her by the hair and forces her down onto a chair, all the while continuing to yell verbal insults.

It’s then that the pregnant woman fights back, and removes her belt and begins to take off her jeans.
"There better not be blood. If there's blood c--t you're f---ed." she says.

The brawl eventually ends when Metro staff outside the train at Greensborough station move in and speak to the pregnant woman.

Metro Trains said they are investigating the incident.
