This amazing concrete can absorb 4000L of water in a minute

It might sound like magic but this concrete can absorb 4000 litres of water a minute.

The new invention by Tarmac is expected to change lives across the world.

The Topmix Permeable concrete solution is able to filter 4000 litres per minute through its penetrable top layer.

The water then goes into a drainage system when it re-enters the groundwater system.

Since uploaded Facebook the video has been watched more than 45m times.

The innovation could help to prevent flash flooding and would be incredibly helpful during torrential rains.

It would help to improve safety during these conditions by reducing the need for road closures, driving in heavy rain, cycling through puddles and walking near flood waters – especially in places where drainage is horrible.

However there is a downside… the cold.

When water freezes, the system can be destroyed making it unreliable in colder climates.

But the concrete would work well in warmer parts of the world that experience severe rains but have a humid climate year round.
