Vester Lee Flanagan's getaway 'kit' found in car

After cold-blooded killer Vester Lee Flanagan shot his two former television colleagues, he fled the scene of the crime in a rental car with a 'getaway kit' found by his side, it's been revealed.

Flanagan, also known as Bryce Williams, had a getaway plan including a 'to-do' list after killing Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Wade, 27 in an alleged revenge killing, police inventory suggests.

WDBJ reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward died after being shot on live television at approximately 6:45am at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia, near Smith Mountain Lake.

The third victim, Vicki Gardner of the Smith Mountain Chamber of Commerce, is recovering in Roanoke Memorial Hospital following emergency surgery.

Ms Parker and Mr Ward were interviewing Ms Gardner when Flanagan opened fire.

Flanagan, who was a former reporter, fled the scene in a Mustang which contained a briefcase with a phone, shawl, wig, license plates, sunglasses and a black hat hidden inside it.

Police had seen a to-do list inside the rented silver Chevrolet alongside other items suggesting he was planning other attacks, including 17 stamped letters, a pistol with six magazines of ammo, along with extra 9mm ammunition.

Flanagan was captured in a rental car he reserved in August before he went on his rampage. His Mustang was found abandoned at the local airport.

The 17 stamped letters are a point of interest and police have not yet revealed what was written in each.

Chilling manifesto

Vester Flanagan created a 23-page manifesto to a national news channel while being pursued by police after he killed his former colleagues.

The Virginia killer also posted a series of tweets leading up to the incident, showing the resentment and anger he had towards Parker and Ward.

"Alison made racist comments against me," tweeted Flanagan, who also noted that he had filed a report with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

“They hired her after that?” he then tweeted.

"Adam went to hr after working with me one time."

Flanagan’s twitter account was shut down around 20 minutes after he began tweeting about the horrific shooting. His Facebook and Twitter account have also been suspended.

That same day he shared four photographs showing him in various states of undressing and suggested, perhaps jokingly, that had had worked as an escort.

"Hell yeah I've been a high paid 'companion.' You wish u could too!! Lol," he tweeted.

However other tweets also hinted at Flanagan’s lonesome state of mind and his resentment towards his former employees.

Father of Alison Parker speaks out about gun control

The heartbroken father of Alison Parker has vowed to campaign for legislation to stop firearms getting into the hands of 'crazy people'.

“I can’t watch any news,” Mr Parker said in an interview.

“All it would do is rip out my heart further than it already it is.”

Parker has vowed to tackle the issue of gun control by doing his own campaigning.

"We have got to do something about crazy people getting guns," he told Fox News.

"I am going to do something, whatever it takes, to shame legislators about closing loop-holes in background checks to make sure crazy people don't get guns. This isn't the last you've heard from me.“
