'Scumbag' makes off with charity jar
A Sydney cafe manager has been left fuming after a 'scumbag' brazenly stole an Australian Cancer Council collection jar worth over $300.
CCTV footage from the Bertoni Cafe shows a man in a blue shirt calmly walk over to the counter and order a coffee before placing his black jacket over the jar.

He then slides away from the counter with the jar in hand and drops it into his backpack before returning to the counter and for his coffee and leaving.
Bertoni cafe manager Symeon White said the jar was gathering donations for head chef Naomi Lowry, who was raising funds for a quarter marathon.
“The way he did it was very clever,” Mr White said.
“As he lifted the coat he lifted the jar up, which you can see in the CCTV. Closed the bag, gets his coffee and goes.
“I felt absolutely hurt and shocked... Why would a person do that?
“We only put the jar out a few days ago so we had actually collected a lot of money.”
Sydney City Police are investigating the incident.
