'Shocking': Children's birthday party bashing

Police are trying to track down a group of men who attacked a family during a brawl at a children's birthday party in south-west Sydney.

A 56-year-old man, his son and his nephew were beaten by a man who pulled a six-year-old girl's hair at Lollipops Playland at Wetherill Park about 5pm on Saturday.

It is alleged the girl's uncle was punched to the ground as he approached the man over the incident before his father and cousin were also assaulted.

“I was on the ground and they pulled my shirt over my head and they were kicking me and punching me," the young girl's father said.

"I was just saying to myself ‘get off the floor, if these guys knock me out, I’m going to be dead here’.

“We couldn’t compute it. We’re not aggressive people. But these guys were ruthless, they were just battering us.

“My kids were screaming, there were kids everywhere. They are traumatised."

Children from a number of separate birthday parties were forced to watch on in horror as they hid in the jungle gym play area.

“They were kicking my legs to try and get me on the ground. I was covering myself I heard them saying ‘just get him, just get him’,’’ the 32-year-old father told The Daily Telegraph.

“They were egging each other on. They were animals, just pigs. It’s unbelievable, I’m speechless. In a kid’s playground, you should be protecting children from violence, not promoting it.”

Police are investigating the incident and have labelled the shocking behaviour as a 'disaster'.

“It’s extremely shocking for the people there who witnessed that, let alone the children who were there,” said Fairfield Local Area Command's Inspector Raven Maharaj.

“It’s a disaster really, shocking. It’s not something that children should ever have to see or experience.”
