Groom tries to drown himself after meeting 'ugly bride'

A Chinese groom tried to drown himself after meeting his wife to be at the altar and telling her she was ‘too ugly’ before running away.

Kang Hu reportedly told his bride Na Sung that she would be 'bad for his image' after he left the ceremony, angering their families and waiting guests.

Police officers were called to a lake in the city of Shiyan in the central Hubei province, after receiving reports that a man had been spotted attempting to kill himself by drowning.

It is claimed the 33-year-old stunned guests when he apologised to his bride before telling her she was "too ugly".
Pal Chan Wang said: "It was a very awkward moment for everyone.

"He was unconscious and I thought he was dead.”

Police officer Hou Kunshan said: 'I saw a man floating in the water face down.

“We couldn't see his condition but when I got closer I could see that it was rather serious,’ reports the Daily Mail.
