RSCPA holds a pop-up adoption day in Brisbane
About 300 cats and dogs from across Queensland were up for grabs during an inaugural pop-up adoption day hosted by the RSPCA in central Brisbane.
The organisation re-homes 40,000 animals each year in Queensland and spokesperson Michael Beatty said care centres were full.
"We're always trying innovative ways to get our animals out in the community," he said at the the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre pop-up.
"We think the RSCPA animals make the best pets."
Peter Caune and his son Andrejs were delighted to be providing a new home, for "Macca".
"We wanted a medium-sized dog and we thought 'RSPCA' - great cause, great place to get one, so we came along," he said.
"The hard part was choosing, there were so many lovely dogs."
The society requires $38 million annually to support its animal centres, programs and services.
