Police said tenants at the rental home on Ralph Street heard screams after the Ford Falcon sedan left the road and went through a fence and into the pool.
The driver ran away and was picked up by another car.
A crane will be used to remove the vehicle from the swimming pool.
Police inquiries are continuing.
