"My family has been through hell": Sydney exec's fall from grace

A former Sydney construction boss and his wife will reappear in court this week, accused of running an elaborate drug ring.

Anthony O'Meley, 41, and his partner Ellie, have been jailed on trafficking charges over alleged drug runs from Sydney to Darwin.

The pair are accused of transporting ice (crystal methamphetamine) and MDMA (ecstasy).

Police swooped on their waterfront apartment in Woolloomooloo last week, seizing narcotics, expensive jewellery, and other items.

Their arrests follow a bitter family feud that saw O'Meley sacked as director of drilling company Arogen by his own mother.

The Supreme Court reportedly found O'Meley's mother phone was hacked by her son, and he had withdrawn almost $1 million from the family company's accounts.

Roslyn O'Meley told Faifax she had not spoken to her son in a decade, and claims her family "has been through hell".

"We're just trying to move on," she said.
