Christian brother cleared of sex charges

A former Victorian Christian Brother has been cleared of sexually assaulting a boy in a chapel 40 years ago.

William Houston, 75, was charged with sexually assaulting the 12-year-old while a Christian Brother at St Augustine's Boys' Home in Geelong in the early 1970s.

But a Victorian County Court jury has cleared him of the charges.

Houston, of Glenroy, was found not guilty on four counts of indecent assault on a male person.

Houston left the Christian Brothers in the 1990s.
