Police investigate after AFL beer prank

A football fan is standing by his decision to make an official complaint to police after pranksters allegedly tipped beer into the hood of his jacket during last month's AFL grand final.

Police have released images of two men they would like to speak to in relation to the incident, which is alleged to have occurred in the final quarter of the Hawthorn-Fremantle clash at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Bernard Keirl said he only became aware of the incident when he stood up and alcohol leaked out of his hood.

"I stood up and it went everywhere...all over my back and shoulders, on my jeans and down my front," he said. "I realised someone had filled my hood full of alcohol."

Bernard said he reported the incident to police and security at the MCG, but no action was taken.

“You should be able to go to a game without this sort of thing happening,” he said.

“It’s unacceptable behavior and shouldn’t happen at a public event.”

Police are investigating the prank as a criminal damage incident.

Bernard simply wants an apology from those responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
