Chef's body lay on side of road for 31 hours
A chef’s body lay on the side of a NSW road for over 31 hours after being killed in a motorcycle accident.
Ryan Kalsbeek was driving on Nelson Bay Road when it’s believed his motorbike hit a tree at high speed.
Police say his Suzuki GSX 750 motocycle left the road on a gentle curve about two kilometres from town near the Gan Gan Road turnoff.
The 24-year-old was last seen at a party in Nelson Bay at around 4am on Friday morning.
It wasn’t until 11am on Saturday morning when local mountain bikers discovered his body in dense scrub.
According to Fairfax, he was due to return to his home town of Canberra today to start a career in the air force.
He finished his last shift at the Rock Lobster restaurant in Nelson Bay. The restaurant’s owner Robyn Bradbury described him as "a very, very talented young guy".
She said he was passionate about motorbikes and had a large collection.
Mr Kalsbeek was thrown some distance and it’s believed he died instantly. His bike disintegrated on impact.
