Mother murdered and dumped in a canal on Christmas Day

A mother of three, the youngest being just one month old, has been found murdered on Christmas Day.

23-year-old Ruby Love’s body was discovered floating in the Grant Union Canal in Southall, West London on Sunday morning.

Her family was waiting for her to come home and open her Christmas presents.

The young mum, who also had a two-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter, was last seen the previous evening before going out.

She was born Rabina Malik into a Sikh family but the family converted to Christianity and formally changed their names in 2003.

According to her mother, Precious, 45, she was “just the most lovely girl”.

She told the Daily Mail: “We were having our Christmas dinner and opening our presents as we were waiting for her. I waited and waited and I texted her through the night.

“I waited until it had got to 24 hours after (she left) and then I gave it one more hour, and then there was a knock on the door. It was the police.

“It’s such a loss – I do not know how we are going to cope.”

Her younger sister Sarah said: “She loved her kids but she was a mother to everyone. She always protected me and I could not protect her. She was an angel. We have just not stopped crying. I still cannot believe this.”

According to the UK’s Daily Telegraph, she was found fully clothed but was missing her handbag, shoes, bank cards and a ring.

It appeared that she had strangulation marks and that she had been hit on the head although a formal cause of death had not yet been established.

Police have now charged her boyfriend of five years, Manzar Juma, 27, with her murder.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said that officers “are aware of previous incidents which will form part of our investigation”.
