PM backs troubled Premier

ABC November 5, 2009, 1:19 pm

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says Queensland Premier Anna Bligh has his full support despite her slump in popularity.

The Liberal Nationals are hoping opposition to the State Government's asset sales will result in a swing against Labor in Queensland at the next Federal election.

Mr Rudd met Ms Bligh in Brisbane today and says all governments are struggling to deal with the effects of the global financial crisis.

"The Premier has been re-elected with a mandate to govern," Mr Rudd said.

"The Premier is dealing with challenges like every other Premier in the country.

"The Premier has my strong support."
