King Island beef producers are disappointed the future of the local abattoir is still unclear.
The abattoir's owner JBS Swift met the State Government, the King Island Mayor and local farmers separately today after months of uncertainty about the future of the business.
The Government came to the rescue of 100 JBS Swift employees in March, agreeing to cover the company's financial lossesAnother assistance package was discussed today.
One of the island's beef producers Roger Clemons is happy there was no talk of the abattoir closing."I suppose we were a little bit disappointed," he said.
"But we can all get on with life again and I'm sure we'll know the outcome in a couple of weeks time."
