Police warn cup day revellers

Francis Tapim, ABC November 3, 2009, 8:41 am

Queensland Police say they will not tolerate troublemakers or drink drivers during Melbourne cup celebrations today.

The Deputy Commissioner Ian Stewart says party-goers should use public transport or designated drivers if they are planning to have a drink.

He says extra police will be on the roads looking for drink drivers.

He has reminded punters that it is illegal to drink in public places and says officers will be patrolling race tracks and licensed venues to monitor crowd behaviour.
