The Tasmanian Government has been accused of trying to rush anti-corruption legislation through Parliament.
Parliament will today begin debate on laws to establish the state's first anti-corruption commission.
The State Opposition and the Greens saw the Integrity Commission Bill for the first time last Thursday. The Greens Leader, Nick McKim, says after 10 years of waiting, the bill should not be rushed.
"It runs contrary to the actual spirit and intent of the bill," he said. The Liberal's Peter Gutwein says it is a tough ask.
"We will do our job to the best of our ability in the time that's been provided," he said. The Attorney-General, Lara Giddings, said last week the Government was keeping its promise to have the bill passed by the end of the year.
