West Coast ruckman Dean Cox could be out of action for the second week in succession as the Eagles take on Melbourne at the MCG.
Part-timer Quentin Lynch was forced to lead the line in a win over Hawthorn last week, with second-gamer Nic Naitanui providing the back-up with a match-winning finale.
While Lynch played one of his better games and teen sensation Naitanui confirmed his status as a cult-figure for Eagles fans with three goals in the final term, there is no doubt Worsfold would prefer his four-time All-Australian in the side.Cox trained lightly at Subiaco Oval this morning but is no certainty to travel with the team on Thursday.
"I couldn't say (what his chances are), it might be 80-20, it might be 20-80. I don't know. We'll split it and say 50-50," Worsfold said."He certainly had scans on it. It was a very minor strain and one that we would expect would heal by now.
"We won't pick him if he's not fit but we'll pick him if he's fit. There's no caution really taken into account, it's just if he's fit he'll play."Despite an impressive victory over the Hawks, Worsfold said he had no issues with making changes to a winning side.
Veteran midfielder Chad Fletcher, a member of the 2006 premiership side, collected 38 possessions for Subiaco in the WAFL last week in a clear sign that he is determined to reignite a flagging career at the top level. And while Worsfold has publicly stated a preference for younger players, he would not rule out a return for the 29-year-old.
"He had an excellent game and his form over the last six weeks has been nearly as good as it can be from our point of view," Worsfold said."We want to pick players that are in good enough form to come in and play well and we think Chad could do that. We're weighing that up versus a lot of the other criteria that we look at when we select the side this week."
The versatile Adam Hunter is almost certain to spend another week on the sidelines with persistent shoulder problems, but defender Mark Nicoski will be given every chance to prove he has recovered from a back injury.PERTH SHAYNE HOPE
