St George Illawarra's depth looks set to be tested in their run in to the finals with NSW Origin prop Michael Weyman ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury.

Weyman has suffered a grade one strain to his ankle syndesmosis, and is not expected back until the Dragons' round 23 clash against his former side Canberra.

It also means he is out of Origin III, leaving Blues selectors searching for yet another new face as they look to avoid a series whitewash in Brisbane on July 15.

The burly front rower first damaged the ligament in NSW's Origin II loss last Wednesday night before re-injuring it in the Dragons' 21-10 win over Wests Tigers on Friday night.

"It's just one of those things, that's footy," Weyman said.

"I just need to do the best I can and get back as quick as I can.

"To finally get there (to Origin) and have it taken away through injury ... is pretty disappointing."
