Mercanti is serving at least 14 months in jail over the assault, which left a reveller with a severely broken jaw. He was convicted of grievous bodily harm over the attack during a District Court trial in December.

The Court of Appeal today unanimously rejected Mercanti's appeal against the sentence.

Mercanti was booted out of WA's most powerful bikie gang, the Coffin Cheaters, early last year. Before his incarceration, he was instrumental in helping Eastern States-based gang The Finks establish a presence in WA.
