Glory women in hunt for coach

Football West and Perth Glory are in the hunt for a head coach for their women's team after Nicola Williams' one-season contract expired.

Williams has been invited to re-apply for the position with the side she led to a seventh-place finish last year and is expected to do so.

A youthful Glory women's outfit won just three and lost five of its 10 matches in the inaugural W-League season and will be hoping to push up into the top four this year.

The new season begins in August with the grand final, won by Queensland Roar last year, to be played in December.

Williams is currently on tour with the Australian under-14 girls team, which is due to compete in the 'Festival of Football' in Vietnam, as an assistant to head coach Jeff Hopkins.

"The squad arrived from different states this week and we had a good chance to prepare as a team for the journey over," Williams said.

"They have arrived in Vietnam in good shape, all fit and healthy and ready to play."

Hopkins said the tournament would give the Australian girls insight for future Asian Football Confederation competitions.
