Paramedics called to Palazzo Versace

The West Australian June 17, 2009, 1:30 pm

Paramedics have treated seven people overcome by cleaning fumes at the luxurious Palazzo Versace hotel on the Gold Coast.

Three firefighters who attended the scene were among those who suffered dizziness after breathing in a "strong, acid-based cleaning product" about 10.30am (AEST) today.

All those affected are being treated at the hotel.

"We are not expecting anyone to be transported to hospital," an ambulance spokeswoman said.

She said four staff members had been exposed to the cleaning agent in the initial incident, prompting a call to emergency crews.

Two hours after the drama the hotel was operating as normal.
