Three Malaysian tourists have been charged for allegedly racking up more than $90,000 of purchases on fake credit cards across Perth.

Major fraud squad detectives allege the trio travelled from the Eastern States to Perth earlier this month and bought jewellery and electrical items at various shopping centre stores using fraudulently altered credit cards and false identification.

Initial inquiries resulted in police being given images of a number of people believed to be involved in the fraud.

Yesterday a woman was arrested at Perth Airport in possession of a suitcase allegedly containing a large quantity of jewellery, laptop computers, debit cards and other documentary evidence, believed to be worth more than $90,000.

Another two people were found by police at the airport and taken into custody on suspicion of being involved in the scam.

Three Malaysian nationals, two women aged 21 and 26 and a 31-year-old man, have been charged with a number of fraud offences. Police believe further charges may be laid.

The trio are due to appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court today.
