Vics thrash WA women

WA have been brought back to earth after a thumping day one victory over Queensland at the AFL National Women's Championship, going down to Division One favourites Victoria by 96 points yesterday.

The home side failed to register a major score at Fremantle Oval in the 15.10 (100) to 0.4 (4) loss, which leaves them in danger of missing out on a grand final appearance and a chance to exact revenge on the unbeaten Victorians.

WA must defeat the winless ACT side on Friday to assure themselves of a spot in Sunday's decider at Subiaco Oval, however, they will qualify if as expected Queensland fail to beat Victoria.

Queensland beat ACT 7.9 (51) to 6.7 (43) in the second round of fixtures.

In Division Two, WA's second team kick-started its campaign with a narrow 6.10 (46) to 6.6 (42) win over the Northern Territory while South Australia remain unbeaten after a four-point victory over NSW.
