Within hours of of Michael Jackson's death, some of the world's leading athletes used their social networking sites to express their feelings about the King of Pop.
Basketball star Shaquille O'Neal began the outpouring of grief on http://www.athletetweets.com/ by first asking if the rumours of Jackson's deathe were true and then expressing his sadness over the matter.
LA Lakers forward Lamar Odom followed by writing: "my thoughts and prayers go out to Michael Jackson and his family. He is a legend. King of Pop."
US golfer Stewart Cink moved to begin a memorial for Jackson.
"Send me your favorite Michael Jackson moments, memories, etc. We'll let it be a cyber shrine," tweeted Cink.
