Frank is back on form and eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first intern under his new Intern Program. He’s immediately put on the back foot when the young wide eyed med graduate he’s expecting turns out to be an attractive, confident, mature woman who makes it clear she will not be pushed around. Thrown by her medical knowledge and her unorthodox approach the pair butt heads. But as the day wears on and Frank becomes aware of her background he realises he may have been too quick to judge her. A medical hiccup from Katerina shows she still has something to learn and a mutual respect begins to form.
Mike, Steve and Jo arrive at a MVA in bush reserve to find a car hanging dangerously over a ravine, its driver still trapped inside. A precarious rescue follows. They eventually get the driver out only to learn his daughter was in the car with him, but managed to get out and go for help. She’s now missing in dense bush-land and to make things worse she also has a rare blood disorder. The race is on for the MRU team to find her before she bleeds to death.
Meanwhile the driver, Glen, is rushed into the ED where Katerina, the new intern, uses hypnotism to reduce his pain. She appears to be a one-woman show diagnosing an internal bleed. But when Glen’s condition deteriorates only good old-fashioned teamwork will pull him through.
