Newlyweds Robyn and Michael and their family are a modern day Brady Bunch. With a whopping ten children between them, their chaotic home-life is starting to take its toll on their relationship as well as their looks.

They’re hoping that 10 days away will not only give them time alone, but time to rejuvenate their weary bodies.

After ten 10 days, Michael’s polled age was reduced by 9 years – from 63 to 54 years of age.

From a starting age of 49, Robyn shed an extraordinary 12 years.

Dental Treatment

Robyn came to Dr Yassmin highly embarrassed about her plate and discoloured upper teeth. She had individual teeth with varying colours due to the nature of several different treatments. Robyn desperately wanted to get rid of the partial plate which had caused her problems for over 10 years and she desired a whiter, more glamorous smile.

Treatment provided:

Photos and radiographic records were taken to allow accurate assessment of the existing dentition (development and arrangement of teeth in her mouth) and to give Robyn a visual view of the treatment needed.


Preventative care (Dental prophylaxis)
Deep scaling and polishing to remove the buildup of heavy plaque (also known as calculus and tartar) and staining on Robyn’s teeth, helping prevent cavities, further tooth loss and gum disease.
Oral hygiene routine

Cariscreen and caries free rinse program.
Custom trays of GC tooth mousse were created for home use, which will help prevent tooth decay (that can lead to cavities, pain, tooth loss and infection) and minimise intrinsic staining (white specs on teeth).

Crown and bridge work
Robyn was given multiple 10 new crowns and had a 5 unit bridge inserted. The material used has a zirconia framework which greatly increases the strength whilst also providing optimum aesthetics. The dental bridge was used to replace missing teeth and was fixed into Robyn’s mouth via adjoining crowns. Crowns were used to cover and protect Robyn’s worn or broken down individual teeth. A custom shade is taken of the teeth to allow the crowns and bridges to be matched creating a natural looking smile.

White fillings
Robyn had white fillings inserted, allowing her teeth to be filled and rebuilt utilising resin. Alternatively resin/porcelain may have been used, both are highly aesthetic materials and neither contains a mercury alloy.

Teeth whitening
BriteSmile whitening of Robyn’s teeth to perfectly match the custom crown and bridge work performed. Custom trays were also made to give Robyn a take home whitening maintenance program to help sustain her glamorously whiter smile.

Too much hair in all the wrong places made Michael look scruffy, unkempt and much older then he was. Will showed Michael how simple and easy it was to wax his ears, eyebrows, back/shoulders and feet without putting his masculinity into question.

Waxing Tips

• Some clinics might not have ear waxing on their menu so don’t be shy, always ask if they can do that for you (try including it in a skin treatment).
• After waxing, care is important so you don’t get ingrown hairs and irritation, which can lead to red spots and infection.
• After your waxing treatment gently use a loofah or body brush in the shower daily to remove the dead skin that causes ingrown hairs and pimples.
• Tea Tree washes and lotions are antibacterial and will keep pimples away and ensure your skin stays soft, clean and clear.

Troy Thompson – Hair stylist
Michael had coarse, wiry curly hair and uses home hair colour. While Michael wanted to improve his hair, he didn’t want to look like he had spent time in the salon. Troy stripped the colour from Michael’s hair and chemically straightened it to make it look sleeker and give Michael a younger feel.


The Initial Consultation – Tips
Ensure you have an idea/image of what you want your hair to look like before your visit. If unsure, a photo image is always a good start. This allows for the hairdresser to understand the look you are trying to achieve.
Before your salon visit, please ensure your hair is washed and clean, try to avoid using any form of hair styling products as the hairdresser needs to observe your hair in its natural state.


Consultation Process
Colour
As Michael wanted to have straight hair, Troy used ‘Goldwell’s Flat Out’ product. This product is more of a relaxant tool, not a traditional chemically-straightening product. ‘Goldwell’s Flat Out’ was applied to unwashed hair for approximately 20 minutes and was continually combed through the hair in order to relax it. It is important that the hairdresser does not get the product on the scalp.

‘Redken Color Camo Dark Ash’ was left on the hair for 10 minutes. After that, Troy shampooed Michael’s hair twice with ‘Redken for Men Go Clean’, and ‘Redken for Men Finish Up’ for conditioner.

Cut
Troy cut Michael’s hair short around the back and side in order to achieve a more youthful and shapely hair style. Troy purposely left it longer through the top in order to enhance the youthful appearance Michael was after.

Michael’s hair was styled using ‘Redken for Men Working Wax Medium Control’. Troy observed that Michael did not have a lot of hair around the crown region. In order to create more thickness around this area, Troy applied ‘Toppik Hair Building Fibres’. This product is available in many colours and is a great tool for a man who is finding that they are thinning on top.

Maintenance
Michael initially wanted a low maintenance style but ended up with a style that would require constant maintenance.
Michael would need to cut and colour his hair every 4 weeks. The chemically relaxing service would need to be performed every 8 weeks.

Jane wanted to give Michael a slightly retro, European look - something that showed a bit of his personality but also a look with which he would be comfortable. Soft dark neutrals in some sharp clothing were used to take Michael from dowdy to dapper gent.

Cargo Pants were the first to go. An olive complexion can be the perfect complement to bolder colours and a shorter jacket gave Michael’s silhouette a longer and leaner look.

Michael presented with missing teeth, gross decay, severe periodontitis (gum disease), crowding, and discoloured teeth. Michael’s main concern about his smile was his decayed teeth.
