Woosha offered new Eagles deal

John Worsfold’s future could be resolved as early as today after the West Coast coach was yesterday offered a new deal.
Worsfold, who led the Eagles to the 2006 premiership, returned from a three-day break to hold negotiations with club chief executive Trevor Nisbett.
“We’ve had a brief discussion with John and we hope that discussions going forward will enable us to tidy things up one way or the other,” Nisbett said.

“We have to wait and see what his thoughts are first and then we can move on from there.”

Worsfold, whose contract ends at the end of the current season, is West Coast’s preferred choice to oversee a new era for West Coast and he is expected to earn at least a two-year extension.

And another key Eagle set to stay is Daniel Kerr, with Nisbett yesterday ruling out the possibility of trading the midfielder.

“Daniel made a commitment to us and we made it to him,” Nisbett said.

And Kerr is desperate for Worsfold to remain in charge.

“The players definitely play for Woosh,” Kerr told 6PR.

“He’s an inspirational coach and if you look at how he has led our football team, I don’t know how any player wouldn’t be playing for him.”
