ABC Shop closure reports 'absolutely incorrect'

The ABC has rejected newspaper reports ABC Shops will close throughout Australia in favour of selling merchandise through a major book retailer.

The ABC has 41 shops in Australia and licenses 99 ABC centres.

Profits made from the stores are reinvested in ABC programming.

ABC head of Corporate Communications Sandy Culkoff says any suggestion the ABC is moving to close the shops is "absolutely incorrect".
