Car wash possible source of Legionaries outbreak

A carwash at Hoppers Crossing has been closed as investigations continue into an outbreak of Legionaires Disease in the Werribee region.

Five people have been diagnosed with the condition and two men are still recovering in hospital.

Investigations are continuing into cooling towers in the area, but test results in the Central Werribee shopping area have come back negative.

The Department of Human Services is now looking into a carwash on Old Geelong Road, which had been used by four of the people who came down with the disease.

The operators of the carwash are co-operating with the D-H-S, to ensure the water is disinfected and is safe when it reopens for business.
